Doug Polk vs. Daniel Negreanu: first hand to be dealt on November 1st
Finally, Doug Polk and Daniel Negreanu set a kick-off date for their heads-up challenge. After a long exchange of messages via Twitter, the two players defined this and other details:
- Start: November 1st, 2020;
- Site: WSOP.com
- Stake: $200/$400, 100bb with auto top-up;
- Hands: 25k, the loser can quit after 12,5k;
- Sessions: two-hour minimum.
Polk said that 2 hours a day would make the challenge last over 100 days, and Daniel confirmed that he is willing to play much longer if needed, 4-5 days a week, and aim 20 hours/week. Negreanu leaves to Polk the option of using charts, ranges, notes, etc.
Negreanu and Polk defined that each will play from their houses, and Daniel also confirmed some details for the challenge:
- He agrees on a Real-Time Assistance (RTA) inspection;
- He won't show his hole cards.
The match will be streamed with a 2-hour delay, and Kane Kalas will make the comments. Both grinders have not defined where the challenge will be played as they await a "final legal opinion." Polk has already refused to play on rake-free tables at GGPoker.
Update 07/10/2020: Negreanu confirmed that the challenge will take place at WSOP.com.

It seems that for Polk, the challenge against Daniel Negreanu is something significant: he updated his Twitter profile with the phrase "Preparing for HUNL Challenge," and he has been playing at Americas Cardroom against several players, including Phil Nagy, WPN CEO.
Currently, there are over 20 "Doug Polk Challenge" tables created at Americas Cardroom, from $3/$6 to $100/$200, and there has been action at all of them, mainly at NL5k.
The match odds are now 5.6 for Negreanu and 1.16 for Polk.
