GGNetwork and live poker series in 2020
Live poker experienced one of its biggest crisis in 2020 due to the COVID outbreak. Almost all spring-summer series were canceled or postponed, and some decided to switch to the Internet.
Biggest Battle of Malta Main Event in history
Yesterday a press release confirmed the partnership between Battle of Malta and GGPoker to hold an online series.
Reference: Battle of Malta is an annual live poker series running since 2012. It's usually held at the Olympic Casino in St. Julian's. 2019 Main Event featured a €500 buy-in and raised €2,258,645 for prizes after 4,657 entries.
This year the BOM organizers decided to switch online and chose GGNetwork to host the series.
The Battle of Malta Main Event will feature a $3,000,000 guaranteed prize pool with a $550 buy-in, which will set a record for the series.
Surely GG will add a comprehensive satellite promotion to beat this guarantee. The series will start on November 1, so there are only 5 weeks to promote it. The full schedule should be released soon.
Why is the Maltese series the optimal European partner for GGPoker?
BOM will be more than the first European live series to collaborate with GGNetwork. This partnership is undoubtedly crucial for the network now.
A few months back, the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) issued a license to GGNetwork, and it is this permit the one that made it possible for the network to become a partner of the Battle of Malta.
This series is well-known in the region, and for many years, players have traveled to play after winning entries in satellites held by several poker rooms, and now those grinders will seriously consider registering at the rooms of GGNetwork.
