UCOP: €1,000,000 guaranteed in September
A few weeks ago, Alex Scott, Managing Director of the MPN poker division confirmed us that a new UCOP edition would be announced soon, and now we have the official dates: September 15th to 29th.
The network has already hosted a UCOP series this year in April; therefore, we'll have the chance to compare both festivals. In general, the next UCOP will be more significant in all aspects, although it's still unclear whether this edition will feature the traditional leaderboard.
Here are the main indicators of both series:
UCOP | Spring | Autumn |
Total guaranteed | €500,000 | €1,000,000 |
Number of events | 61 | 94 |
Average GTD | €8,197 | €10,638 |
Main Event GTD | €50,000 | €100,000 |
Perhaps the only factor that will remain the same is the range of buy-ins, which will start from €3,3 up to €320. However, we cannot say that the upcoming UCOP will be record-breaking, as it's very similar to the edition held last year.
Distribution of UCOP tournaments by buy-ins:
Buy-in | Tournaments |
€2,00 | 3 |
€3,00 | 2 |
€5,00 | 6 |
€10,00 | 14 |
€20,00 | 24 |
€30,00 | 8 |
€50,00 | 18 |
€100,00 | 14 |
€200,00 | 4 |
€300,00 | 1 |
In short, almost all events of the series are between €11 and €110 buy-in.
Distribution of UCOP tournaments by type:
Type | # of events |
Freezeout | 17 |
Rebuy | 25 |
1R/1A | 10 |
Booster | 5 |
Deepstack Freezeout | 14 |
Monster Rebuy | 2 |
Super Bounty | 6 |
Super Bounty Rebuy | 5 |
Super Turbo Rebuy | 1 |
Big Antes 1R/1A | 3 |
Double Stack Freezeout |
4 |
Early Bird Freezeout | 2 |
Note: in an official 2+2 thread, the MPN staff asked for feedback on the schedule, so there is a chance of having small variations on this.
Almost 40% of the tournaments are freezeouts. The UCOP Main Events are the following ones:
- UCOP Event 48, €30,000 GTD, €110 buy-in;
- UCOP Main Event, €100,000 GTD (Freezeout), €110 buy-in;
- UCOP High Roller, €40,000 GTD (Freezeout), €320 buy-in.
The guarantees in all other events are lower than €20,000, and the schedule also includes eight PLO tournaments. The large ones are the #35 and #45, with €55 and €110 buy-ins respectively and the same €7,500 GTD prize pool.
Holding a new UCOP right now is already a great achievement for Microgaming because over the past year the total traffic of the network had decreased by 20%. But, even in 2018, some UCOP tournaments had overlaid, and players can expect more on this series.
During peak time the number of cash tables at MPN rooms is the following one:
- NL10 19;
- NL20: 10;
- NL50: 11;
- NL100: 4;
- NL200—400: 4.
Also, a few NL1k-NL10k tables are usually open with 2-3 players.
