PokerStars adds 6+ Hold'em spins
The largest online poker room in the world is fully engaged in updating its spins offer. We have already posted at the beginning of this month that multipliers were being improved, and this week we have seen that 6+ Hold'em spins were added to the lobby. Five stakes were available, including the $1,000 mentioned on the website, but those last ones were removed quickly.
About one week ago, rumors spread about the possibility of PokerStars launching 6+ Hold'em spins, when a player found graphic files related to the new tournaments after a client update.
What do we know about the 6+ Hold'em spins?
- Available buy-ins: $1, $3, $15, $30, $100;
- Multipliers: the same compared to the NLH spins, and range from X2 to X12,000;
- Rake: 8% in $1 tournaments, 6% in $15 tournaments, and 5% in $30+.
The button blind structure applies, therefore, the player sitting at the button have to post an additional bet (when ante applies); otherwise, the new 6+ Hold'em spins are pretty much the same traditional hyper-turbo 3-max SnG tournament with a random prize.
Another exciting news came from PokerStars in Italy. The players reported that the "Seat Me" function, what made seating at the tables completely random, disappeared from the high stakes tables (NL500/PLO500); this could be a temporary decision, but it creates a wave of optimism among those that consider random seating not profitable.
Cash games with real names at partypoker
This week partypoker updated its platform with several improvements; the most important was the possibility of display your real name at the cash games tables, only at the high-stakes ones. A second novelty was sensed by more players, as NL2 tables were added to fast poker, and the number of maximum tables was also increased.
Now, the partypoker client allows to run up to 6 Fastforward tables at one stake. All other changes were related to minor client improvements and the tournament section to announce the new POWERFEST that starts on July 28th.
The only novelties added to the major poker sites that may cause a real impact among regs are the increasing of the limit of tables per stake at partypoker, and the cancellation of the "Seat Me" functions at the Italian PokerStars. But, the real names at the cash tables and the new 6+ Hold'em spins would not enthusiasm a lot the poker community, as the variance and the impacts of spins are very high, and not all players are comfortable disclosing their identity online. In short, the updates are more image-oriented solutions that may work for attracting new casual players.
