Going to Las Vegas for playing the Main Event of the WSOP is a dream for every poker player. In 2019 the dream can become true on July 3rd, 4th and 5th when the $10,000 ME has its starting flights. This tournament has a 2 hours blind structure and 60,000 chips as the initial stack. In 2018, 7,874 players took part of the Main Event which crowned John Cynn as the world champion after defeating Tony Miles in the final heads-up and winning $8.8MUSD.
132,865 players participated in the WSOP 2018 events creating the biggest combined pool ever, almost $267MUSD.
The first event, usually, the WSOP Employee Championship will start on May 28th, and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the WSOP, a special event, the "Big 50" is scheduled with a GTD prize of $5,000,000 ($1MUSD for the winner) and a buy-in of only $500. This tournament will be rake-free (with the exception of re-entries) and will have four initial days.
The Main Event will be played from July 3rd-16th and as usual, it will be streamed by ESPN.

The WSOP Executive Director, Ty Stewart, commented about the 50th anniversary of the series:
“We’re excited to commence our golden event...We expect our opening weekend Big 50 event to be one of the largest in our history, and certainly, one of the best value tournaments ever offered. This is part of our concerted plans to make the 2019 WSOP a better value all-around.”
On Saturday, June 29th, a gala is scheduled in order to celebrate the 50 years of the WSOP, where awards will be given to players and recognized figures of the industry.
Over 500 tables will be ready at the Rio occupying more than 100,000 square feet to the most important poker festival of the year.
Two more events with huge GTD prizes for the winner were announced too:
- June 7th, Millionaire Maker, NLH, $1,500 buy-in, $1MUSD GTD for the winner
- June 28th, Crazy Eight’s No-Limit Hold’em, $888 buy-in, $888,888 GTD for the winner.
