Americas Cardroom V2: software overhaul
Americas Cardroom is the most known WPN skin in the USA and is responsible for bringing almost all amateur traffic to the network. All efforts made by ACR are warmly welcomed by USA players, and it's clear that its target market is the northern American player, for example, it's currently the only WPN skin with a Mac OS client.
Downloading and installing Americas Cardroom V2
All players are welcomed to download and install the new Americas Cardroom V2 software and give feedback about the beta testing experience. Both Windows and Mac OS clients are available to download using this link.
After downloading, the player must create a new account (which is different and independent of the ACR gaming account and it only works in the beta client) and request a refill on the cashier for 50,000 play money chips. The first change is displayed on the login window, but besides the aesthetic change, ACR now includes the cashier on the software (before the cashier button redirected to a website). Also, a new logo in blue tones has been unveiled.
The main lobby is very similar in both versions (V1 and V2); the principal changes are as follows:
- Tabs for new formats:
- Blitz Poker (fast poker);
- Omaha and Stud are mixed in a new tab; Stud is a new format on the platform;
- 6+ Hold'em is not visible in the new lobby.
There are two options available on the Jackpots tab:
- Registering up to 4 Jackpots at the same time, only choosing the stake;
- Use "The Maximizer" a new feature to increase the amounts of games played.
Where is 6+ Hold'em on ACR V2?
Although 6+ Hold'em isn't available yet for beta testing, the ACR support informed us that it would be ready for the software launching.
Blitz Poker: fast poker comes to WPN
A few weeks ago, Americas Cardroom announced Blitz Poker, a fast poker format available only for mobile devices in the beginning. Blitz Poker has its tab in the new client, so now all players can enjoy this much-expected format on WPN.
Cash games lobby
The cash games lobby was redesigned to include more information before choosing a table, deleting the "Sit now" button and replacing it with new data:
- Average pot
- Players/Flop %
A blue line highlights the selected table, which is similar to the PokerStars client.
The filters are the same in both lobbies (heads-up, 6-max, 9-max, hide full and empty tables), although the Cap filter now has a 30BB limit instead of a 20BB one.
The information displayed in the tournament lobby is more readable; in the V1 client, all tournaments were highlighted in blue and major events in a darker tone while on the V2 client introduces a color code which looks much better:
- Heads-Up = Red
- Blue = Hyper
- Yellow = Freezeout
- Green = KO
We spotted significant changes at the tables, which are now more flexible to resize among other features:
- New avatars;
- The user nickname and stack are larger, and the fonts are more readable;
- New observer chat;
- Display Beast Points, Spin to Get IN! Slots, and Double or Nothing on table exit;
- Hotkeys for buttons;
- New table themes and cards design;
The most significant change introduced with the Americas Cardroom V2 software is a much better performance. On the MacBook Air that we used for testing, the CPU usage was reduced by almost 80 % (from 40,9% to 9,5%), and the RAM consumption was reduced 40%, from 505,1MB to 315,1MB (both ACR client and a process named "Electron Helper").
The new Americas Cardroom V2 client is very similar to the current one. We highlight a better performance and the inclusion of new game formats like Blitz Poker and Stud. Other improvements as the avatars may attract more recreational players, while a better tournament lobby enhances the experience of the regulars. A final release date is not confirmed yet, ACR expects to have at least 4-5 weeks of beta testing to launch the new software, which hopefully will become available for all WPN skins.
