The Venom Fever — satellites for the Venom $7M GTD

The Venom $7,000,000 GTD will kick-off in less than three weeks (July 24, 2020) in the rooms of the American poker network WPN. Therefore, until August 2 (the start of day 1D), the site will host additional satellites — The Venom Fever, with several $2,650 entries guaranteed.

Winning Poker Network announced in late March that a new edition of its flagship tournament, The Venom, would be held in mid-summer 2020 with a record seven million dollar guarantee. Back then, step satellites Cyclones Blitz were launched.

In early July, just a few weeks before the kick-off of the event, WPN announced a new satellite campaign:

The Venom Fever — a satellite series for The Venom with a schedule running until August 2, 2020.

The main distinguishing feature of these events is that they guarantee $2,650 tickets to The Venom $7M GTD, regardless of satellite's buy-in. There are entries from $12 up to $800.

You can check The Venom Fever schedule to plan your games. The busiest day of the campaign will be August 2, where at least 72 tickets will be awarded to players.

The Venom $7M GTD: will the guarantee be smashed?

The Venom $7M GTD Lobby

As of today (July 6, 2020), only nine players have signed up for The Venom. To cover the $7M guaranteed prize pool, it's necessary to draw a field of at least 2,800 players in four starting days. WPN had had no issues to smash the guarantees in the past:

The first edition had 2,553 participants;
2,662 grinders battled in six months ago.

To break the $7,000,000 mark, this edition of The Venom needs to attract 10% more players than the summer of 2019. Two external factors can affect the final result of this event:

After overcoming the issues due to the launch of its new platform, WPN has increased in at least 30% compared year-to-year, after the spring boom of course;
There are two major series scheduled around the same time: WSOP Online on GGNetwork and WPT World Online Championships at partypoker. Many players will travel to play the World Series of Poker, considering that GGPoker relaxed the rules for playing abroad.
