Winning Poker Network cancels MoMoMo PKO Series
The decision made today by Winning Poker Network is not shocking if when you consider the massive overlays we witnessed last weeks:
MoMoMo PKO Series $50M GTD which was played at all the WPN skins will be canceled from October 5, 2020.
Recall that, based on our records, overlays on WPN were over $500k this month, and a significant percentage was due to MoMoMo PKO. It worth mentioning that our analysis included only a small sample of tournaments, so the real number was undoubtedly higher.
The overlays are affecting MoMoMo PKO and the regular MTT grid, so the network will likely decide to revisit its daily schedule soon.
Millionaire tournaments will be played
It's not all is bad news for PKO fans. Despite the cancelation of MoMoMo PKO, Winning Poker Network (PokerKing, Americas Cardroom, Black Chip Poker) decided to run the millionaire events schedule for the next Sundays, including the $5,000,000 GTD Venom PKO Main Event.
On October 4, 11, and 18, the $1M GTD events on the MoMoMo PKO schedule will be played. Also, the $5M GTD Venom PKO will kick-off on October 23.
Those events will be a challenge for WPN. Last week we spotted a $58,600 overlay on the MoMoMo #237 $1M GTD.
Reactions of the poker community
Although disappointed, many players highlighted the transparency of the network by acknowledging that they hosted a big series too soon. The community agreed that the decision was a good one from a business perspective.
Some players stressed that it was essential to include PKO events in the daily MTT schedule. Some proposed adding a $300k GTD event on the weekends with a $630 buy-in.
