World Poker Tour chooses GGPoker
GGNetwork cotinues its journey to conquer the poker world. After the WSOP Online, the site held the GGSOP and announced a partnership with the European brand Battle of Malta to host an online festival in November 2020. The new cooperation was announced with World Poker Tour:
From October 3 to 25, GGPoker will host the WPT Asia Online Series with a total guaranteed prize pool of HK$100,000,000 (about $13,000,000) and 22 Trophy events. Only players living in one of 25 Asian countries will have access to the tournaments.
Main features of the WPT Asia Online Series:
- Only players from China, India, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Turkey, Israel, and other countries in the region will be welcome at the tables;
- Seven countries will have their own Championship events with buy-ins in local currency. For all other events, entries will be in Hong Kong dollars (HKD);
- Each week, the WPT Asia Nations Cup leaderboard will reward 200,000 HDK (about $26k);
- WPT Asia Main Event (WPT Trophy #22) will feature a $1,300,000 GTD prize pool with a $1,290 buy-in.
The series will eventually become the largest online poker festival in Asian poker history. Moreover, there will be no European regs in its tournaments, which will positively impact the playing field.

WPT Asia Nations Cup
Points towards the leaderboard will be awarded to each country from its top 10 players. These will be calculated using the following formula:
Leaderboard point = f * sqr(Prize pool / k)
- K = final place
- f = final position factor
- 1st place: 2,0
- Final table: 1,5
- ITM: 1,0
- Bubble: 0,5
At the end of each week, players from the winning country in the leaderboard who have scored at least one point will get a ticket to a freeroll held on Fridays (October 11, 18, and 25). In the first two, the prize pool will be 50k HKD and in the last 100k HKD.
