World Series of Poker Online Event #32: Record Breaker

The beginning of WSOP Online, unfortunately for the players and GGNetwork was not without problems. The main issue was a crash on their servers (after explained as a DDoS attack). Since then, the poker rooms have been updated several times, and all the events up the night of July 26 were successful.

The main focus was The Opener, an event that broke last year's WSOP record for the number of entries in The Big 50 (Event #3, $500 buy-in), although clearly, both tournaments had completely different formats.

WSOP Online Event #32: $100 The Opener, $2M GTD, gathered 29,306 entries and became the largest tournament in WSOP history.

Brazilian grinder Marcelo "Marolo" Jakovljevic Pudla took down the tournament for $265,879 and the gold bracelet. There is not much information about Marcelo's poker career, except that he has been playing at GGPoker since April 2020, and during this time, he won several thousand dollars across 306 tournaments.

Marcelo defeated professional player Ronit Shamani from South Africa, who accounts for over $700k in live events.

  2. Event #35: $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha Championship — Helppi (Finland), $290,286.
  3. Event #36: $1,500 FIFTY STACK — Michael "YesPlease" Clacher (South Africa), $297,496.
