Playtech Enters West Virginia
Major West Virginia-licensed gaming operators: BetRivers, Betly, DraftKings and BetMGM, have gained access to Playtech's developments since June 2025
Playtech games are available in one more state
In June 2025, Playtech, one of the world leaders in digital gaming technologies, officially launched its iGaming products in the state of West Virginia.
Thus, the company already operates in four of the seven states that have licensed online casinos - this will strengthen the brand's presence in the regulated online gambling market in North America.
In 2020-2021, Playtech began working in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
In West Virginia, the company has already announced the beginning of cooperation with the largest gaming companies in the state: BetRivers, Betly, DraftKings and BetMGM. In the coming months, it plans to connect other licensees.
Players in West Virginia can now enjoy the full Playtech portfolio, from high-quality RNG slots to live dealer games, including popular Age of the Gods, Fire Blaze, and licensed games based on well-known franchises: Gladiator, The Walking Dead and The Mummy.
Industry reaction
Jonathan Doubilet, Playtech’s Vice President of US Operations, said:
“We are excited to bring our products to players in West Virginia and thank our partners for their trust. This is an important step in our strategic expansion into the regulated US market. We continue to invest in innovative technology to offer the best possible user experience.”
A spokesperson for the West Virginia Lottery Commission added:
“Playtech is a name with a global reputation, and their arrival in our market means more quality and safe gaming content for residents of the state. We welcome these new licensees and look forward to their help in strengthening the stability and growth of the local iGaming industry.”
West Virginia iGaming statistics
According to the West Virginia Lottery Commission, in 2024:
- Online casino revenue in the state was $161 million, up 32% from the previous year.
- The average number of active accounts per month exceeds 80,000.
- The most popular games are video slots (70% of turnover) and table games (25%).
Experts predict that with the arrival of new providers, including Playtech, the state's total iGaming revenue could reach $200 million by the end of 2025.
Playtech's prospects in the US market
With its entry into West Virginia, Playtech expands its presence to four states in the regulated US online casino market.
The company continues to develop strategic partnerships with American brands. Key development areas:
- Entering new US jurisdictions as they are regulated (next in line: Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware).
- Expanding the portfolio through content localization and releasing exclusive games.
- Deepening player behavior analytics using artificial intelligence.
- Developing responsible gaming solutions that meet the requirements of US regulators.
Playtech's entry into the West Virginia market is not just an expansion of its business geography, but also a confirmation of the company's serious ambitions in the US. With the support of local regulators, high-quality content, and a powerful technology platform, Playtech has every chance of taking a key position in the fast-growing American online gambling market.
