The operator 1win has launched a Markets section, essentially replicating the mechanics of the Polymarket platform. Users can place yes/no predictions on global events, not just sports. This format is relatively new to the European gambling market, which could enhance 1win’s appeal to a broader audience.

1win Launched Prediction Platform

What are 1win Markets?

In the US, there has been a noticeable increase in interest in prediction markets in recent years. Several factors explain this trend: fatigue with traditional betting formats, growing interest in wagering on real-world events, and the simplicity of the mechanics.

The rapid growth of platforms like Polymarket has demonstrated that the prediction format resonates well with a wide audience. Against this backdrop, traditional operators have also started exploring this format. 1win is among the first operators to integrate a prediction Markets product directly into its website.

The Markets section is based on a binary format. The user selects an event and answers a yes or no question. These can be political events, economic events, technology announcements, or major news.

This format offers several clear advantages:

  • Simplicity. No need to understand lines, handicaps, or totals. The question is formulated clearly, and decisions are made quickly.
  • Broad range of topics. You can bet on any newsworthy topic, from politics to technology. This expands the audience.
  • Frequent event updates.
  • Convenience for new players. The format is understandable even to those who have never experienced betting before.
  • Interest in the news turns into a gambling experience.

As a result, Markets is perceived not as a classic bookmaker section, but as a separate product that sits at the intersection of news, analytics, and gambling.

Interface and Range of Predictions

1win Prediction Platform: Interface

The Markets section interface is extremely simple. The only minor drawback is that the section can be difficult to locate on the 1win website. To do this, go to the Sports section and select the tab on the far right. All available predictions are divided into several categories:

  • Top
  • Politics
  • Sports
  • Culture
  • Tech
  • Space
  • Celebrities

The main interface displays prediction cards. Each card includes:

  • Event name
  • Question wording. In most cases, two answer options are available.
  • Two possible outcomes: "yes" or "no."
  • Current odds.
  • Deadline.

On the individual event page, players can view a more detailed description of the prediction and similar current events.

Reasons for the Launch

The launch of Markets appears to be a logical strategic move. The format has already proven viable in the crypto market.

The future of Markets will depend on two factors: regular updates and player interest in predictions outside of sports. If the company can maintain consistent updates and offer relevant events, 1win has a chance to establish a foothold in the new segment.

However, the prediction market faces one major challenge. In many countries, it's unclear whether such platforms are considered betting, a financial instrument, or a new type of gambling. This creates difficulties with licensing, access to payment systems, and operating in certain jurisdictions.

Regulatory clarity may ultimately determine whether prediction markets expand rapidly or face structural limitations.
