BCPoker employs the exclusive BC Shield system to verify hand fairness and combat fraud. It integrates cryptographic card verification, financial reserve confirmation, and detection of prohibited software. Check out how this protection works and what players can verify themselves.

BC Shield: protection against bots and prohibited programs

Amid the Mesh Agent scandal, many players became increasingly concerned about the security and integrity of games on the poker sites they regularly play at. Poker rooms began introducing additional tools to block remote access to poker tables (ACR Poker) or track community-wide high-stakes results (CoinPoker).

Despite being a relatively new poker room, BCPoker has had its own security system, BC Shield, built directly into its client since launch.

BC Shield monitors suspicious activity during gameplay and consists of several layers:

  • Provably Fair — a system ensuring verifiable fairness: every hand is recorded using a cryptographic hash that can’t be altered retroactively. After the hand is dealt, players receive a key to verify the RNG (Random Number Generator).
  • AI Behavior Detection — analyzes player behavior to identify those using bots or assistive software.
  • Liveness Verification — bot protection: upon joining a table, the system may request a photo or facial scan.
  • Wormhole Detection — protection against remote access or third-party device connections; for instance, the system blocks attempts to play via remote access software or to connect a "second screen" for hints.
  • Emulator Detection — prevents gameplay via Android emulators or virtual machines.

According to BCPoker, a dedicated team also monitors suspicious activity around the clock. When necessary, players may be asked to pass a Live Detection check before taking a seat at the tables. The system uses facial recognition but does not store facial data.

How is the fairness of hands verified?

BCPoker uses a decentralized random number generator (RNG). The shuffling process incorporates data from all players at the table, rather than relying solely on the poker room's server. This prevents any single party from having exclusive control over the order of the cards.

The verification process consists of several stages:

  1. A new pair of public and private cryptographic keys is generated for each hand.
  2. The public key is published before the cards are dealt.
  3. The table and hand identifiers, along with a UUID, are processed using the HMAC-SHA256 algorithm.
  4. The resulting hash is signed with the private key to generate the initial value for the shuffling process.
  5. The system uses KECCAK-256, the hash function used in Ethereum, for cryptographic processing.
  6. Once the hand is completed, the initial value is revealed to verify the card order.

Thus, you can verify whether the card sequence matches the cryptographic data generated before the deal started.

How to verify a hand yourself

The BC Shield feature is available at every table on BCPoker. In the Verification Center tab, a player can access the data for any hand and verify the result without relying solely on the poker room's claims.

The system allows the raw data to be cross-checked with the sequence of cards in the entire deck.

Confirmation of financial reserves

BCPoker employs a Proof of Reserves mechanism to verify the existence of funds covering its obligations to players.

User assets are backed by reserves at a 1:1 ratio and are held separately from the operator's corporate funds. Consequently, the published data is intended to reflect specifically the obligations owed to players.

However, Proof of Reserves doesn’t constitute an absolute guarantee of payouts; its reliability depends on how comprehensive and up-to-date the audit is.

What to keep in mind

A decentralized RNG means that players’ data contributes to the generation of randomness, but it doesn’t mean the entire platform operates on a public blockchain. KECCAK-256 is used for its cryptographic strength, but this doesn’t imply that hands are recorded on the Ethereum network.

Moreover, even a multi-layered security system can’t completely eliminate bots and other forms of cheating. Fraud prevention is an ongoing battle.

BCPoker’s main advantage is its combination of automated suspicious-activity detection and the option for players to independently verify the fairness of individual hands.
