ACR Poker Review
Americas Cardroom is the flagship US-facing poker room of the Winning Poker Network (WPN). Besides accepting players from the United States, the site also has its doors open to Australia, Europe, and South America.
Its major advantage is an impeccable reputation throughout the entire time of work, which is more than 15 years. The WPN CEO, Phil Nagy, widely promotes ACR, and he usually wears branded clothing of the site. ACR Poker actively recruits famous, if not legendary players to their Team Pro such as Chris Moneymaker and Jon “apestyles” Van Fleet.
The rakeback deal (via the Elite Benefits program or a unique 27% fixed program) is another good reason to join the site, plus the $2,000 First Deposit Bonus that gives additional value without any extra effort. Grinders will be delighted with the traffic: dozens of tables of Hold’em, Omaha, fast-fold poker, and even spins are available around the clock. Also, the tournament schedule is mind-blowing, and events with millionaire prize pools guaranteed are the norm.
In this review, we have decided to not only discuss information that you need to know before registering but also test the ACR Poker from player and affiliate perspectives.
Bonuses and promotions
Over the past five years, most poker rooms have accustomed players to attractive but low-profit rewards tailored for amateurs. Fortunately, ACR poker doesn’t follow trends and continues to form a coherent bonus strategy based on classic rakeback.
Americas Cardroom focuses its rewards program on permanent promotions that provide players with high rakeback. Often the poker room launches reload bonuses, which are usually timed with tournament series or significant events. As a result, our customers benefit even more from the site.
Welcome package
The Welcome Package is composed of a 100% first deposit bonus of up to $2,000. The wagering time is 60 days, and you can track the progress in the “Rewards” section in the client. The minimum deposit is $25.
For every 27.5 Award Points scored (5.5 AP = $1 rake), $1 is added to the cashier. Therefore, the bonus is equivalent to a 20% rakeback.
Americas Cardroom rake
The rake structure at Americas Cardroom is similar compared to the top online poker sites. The commission is distributed according to the "weighted contributed" scheme. That means that the final fee depends on the share in the pot. It is only charged if a participant saw the flop.
The rake for No-Limit and Pot-Limit tables in Hold'em, Omaha, and Stud is 5%:
Stakes ($) | Rake per pot ($) | 2 Player Cap ($) | 3 Player Cap ($) | 4 Player Cap ($) | 5 to 9 Player Cap ($) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
All up to and including 1/2 | 0.01 for each 0.20 in the pot | 0.50 | 1 | 2 | 3 |
2/4, 3/6, 4,8 | 0.05 for each 1 in the pot | 1 | 1.50 | 2 | 3 |
5/10 and greater | 0.25 for each 5 in the pot | 1.25 | 1.75 | 2.25 | 3 |
Jackpots (analog of Spin&Go) commission is 6%, regardless of the buy-in.
The rake of multi-table tournaments and Sit&Go is within 2% -10%. It mostly depends on the buy-in.
Americas Cardroom rakeback
Americas Cardroom offers an appealing rakeback program for active players.
Players can choose between a fixed 27% rakeback or up to 65% rakeback on a progressive model, depending on the ACR Poker bonus code entered. The first option is suitable for low-volume players and the second is designed for hardcore grinders
Rakeback at ACR Poker consists of two elements:
- Elite Benefits loyalty program or fixed cashback.
- The Beast and Sit&Crush rake races.
Need more information on the rakeback deal in the room? For a consultation, contact our manager.
Elite Benefits
The loyalty program uses military themes such as battle points, awards, and military ranks. The structure of Elite Benefits is straightforward and is designed mainly for PRO players, as the points per rake are converted into cash.
A participant receives 5.5 Rank Points (RP) for each $1 in rake. These are multiplied by a coefficient according to the current level and are credited as Combat Points (CP) exchanged for cash in the personal account: Rewards - Loyalty - Points Exchange.
There are 6 levels in the VIP program: the first four - monthly, the last two - annual:
Level | Rank Points (RP) | Multiplier | Required Rake ($) | Rakeback |
---|---|---|---|---|
Lieutenant | 0 | 1 | 0 | Up to 10% |
Captain | 750 | 1.5 | 137 | 12%-14.5% |
Major | 3 | 2 | 546 | 14.5%-20% |
Colonel | 7,5 | 2.5 | 1,364 | 17.5%-22% |
General | 100 | 3.5 | 18,182 | 26%-46% |
5-star General | 1,000,000 | 5 | 181,819 | 57%-65% |
You need to score two times less RP than to achieve a level to retain it. In addition, players are rewarded with extra cash from $10 to $200 for gaining a certain number of Rank Points throughout the year.
Elite Benefits is a profitable but complex system to understand (levels, accomplishments, point exchange). According to our analysis, you will only benefit from it if you pay more than $1.5k in rake every month. We recommend waiting for a higher VIP status before exchanging points.
The Beast and Sit&Crush
To keep the race leaderboard fair, the Americas Cardroom has decided to separate cash and SNG grinders. The rake of the first is taken into account in The Beast rake race, the latter - in Sit&Crush. In addition to cash prizes ranging from $50 to $500, the best 100-400 participants receive tickets to a Sunday Tourney. The Beast race has been changing to reward more participants with smaller prizes for top regs.
The race lasts a week, from Saturday 00:00 to Friday 23:59 ET time (+8 GMT). Prize money is paid out on Monday afternoon (evening GMT). The prize fund is formed by deducting rake from players (about 20% of the total). All players, without exception, participate in The Beast and Sit&Crush, regardless of the stake and rank in the loyalty program.
In conclusion:
The loyalty program coupled with a standard rake is one of the main advantages of Americas Card room: transparent wagering rules, 27% rakeback with the possibility of increasing up to 65%.
Games and traffic
- Average online 1100
- The best time to play is 03:00-09:00 GMT+3
Americas Cardroom is a part of The Winning Poker Network along with Black Chip Poker and PokerKing. WPN ranks in the TOP 10 largest poker networks with an average of 1,100 and a maximum of 3,000 daily users. In May 2019, the site rolled out a new unoptimized client from IGSoft, which led to a severe loss of active users by almost half. However, improvements were made, and as iPoker overtook after MPN closure, its traffic has been steadily growing after the update.
Hold’em, Omaha and Fast-Fold
Like other poker sites, No-Limit Hold'em at 6-max tables is the most popular cash game at AmericasCardroom. The prime time is usually from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. GMT since most players are from North and South America. The main action takes place at the stakes from NL2 to NL5,000. In the Omaha lobby you will find Pot Limit, High-Low, PLO5 tables from low to high-stakes.
9-max Hold’em No-Limit is also popular with around 20-30 tables at peak times.
limits | 6-max tables |
---|---|
NL10$ | 5 |
NL25$ | 11 |
NL50$ | 8 |
NL100$ | 5 |
NL200$ | 6 |
NL400$-600$ | 5 |
NL1K$ | 2 |
NL3K-5K | 3 |
7-Day No Rathole
It is an exclusive action-packed NLH variant from Americas Cardroom. Users join the table with 10bb and continue playing with a stack remaining from the previous session throughout the week. One of the best examples of 7-Day No Rathole success stories is Lithuanian poker player, Grazvydas Kontautas, going from $4,000 to $1,014,704 in a week.
Blitz Poker
Fast-Fold Poker at Americas Cardroom is presented as Blitz Poker: No-Limit Hold'em and Pot-Limit Omaha at stakes up to $5/$10. The main action can be found on NL10, NL50, and NL200, with an average of 100-150 participants during peak times. Please note that this is also the only cash game option available in the ACR mobile app. Therefore the field is most likely to be softer.
Bomb Pots
Bomb Pots is an exclusive Hold’em and Omaha sub-format (at all stakes) with a chance to earn a larger pot. During prize hours or by chance (up to 4 times in 60 minutes) a particular hand occurs. Players must pay antes: 4BB for 6-max and 2BB for 9-max tables. The game starts at the flop, with all players in it (no preflop game). Bomb Pots tables are marked with a red cannonball icon.
ACR tournaments MTT
As Phil Nay says, poker is only good if it’s big. And the perfect scenario to create the biggest games ever are tournaments. Since the very beginning, ACR paid extra attention to its tournament grid, and thanks to this, there are dozens of MTT events scheduled every day in various formats, from HU to 9-max, NLH, and PLO.
Besides massive tournament series (we’ll talk about those later), the regular grid is well organized and grants enough action every day. Two series stand out of the crowd: The Big 10 and Turbo 10. In general, 20 events with buy-ins from $1 up to $55 and guarantees up to $20k are played.
Of course, the best events are reserved for the weekend:
- Million Dollar Sunday, $265 buy-in;
- BIG10 $100k GTD, $215 buy-in;
- PKO $100,000 GTD for $320;
- BIG10 High Roller: $500,000 GTD for $630
- PKO Sunday Special: $50,000 GTD PKO 6-max, $630 buy-in
We already said that the tournament series is great. Well, they really are, and for example, the Online Super Series, which has guaranteed up to $40,000,000 is held many times during the year. We highlight that these events are typically divided by stakes so that all grinders can take part in the action.
But, the most famous event is undoubtedly “The Venom.” This Guinness World Record award holder is a massive event with millions of dollars guaranteed that was organized by WPN twice last year.
Cyclones Blitz tournaments
The last novelty introduced by ACR was Cyclones Blitz Tournaments. These satellites turn the famous fast-fold poker format into an infinite tournament that gives access to expensive events, including The Venom.
Spins Jackpots and SNG
Sit and Go at ACR are offered in NL Hold’em and PLO. Buy-ins start at $0.55 and go up to $206.15. Over the past two years, the selection of tournaments has narrowed to 6-max and 9-max. Heads-Up and several other formats were removed from the lobby.
Jackpots
Spins at ACR are called Jackpots. The minimum buy-in is $2, while the maximum multiplier is x2,500, which is significantly lower than x12,000 of other competitors. Nevertheless, considering the rakeback of 27%, the commission of only 6%, and an increased probability of getting x4, Jackpots at Americas Card room have a higher value at low stakes.
ACR also offers the “Million Dollar Jackpot,” with a 10x bigger maximum payout. The buy-ins are $5 and $15. These are fast-paced 3-max, Hyper-Turbo Sit&Go with a starting stack of 500 chips and 3-minute levels.
In conclusion
MTT grid, action at all stakes up to NL/PLO10K, variety of disciplines, and average rake can be called advantages of ACR. The only noticeable disadvantage is that peak times are not as convenient for European players, which seriously complicates grinding.
Attitude toward professional players
- Tracking Software – yes.
- Auto-seating scripts – no.
- Mining – no.
- Bumhunt – no.
- Preflop charts – no.
ACP is one of the most loyal poker rooms with regard to regulars. In addition to the fact that Elite Benefits and their bonus program were specifically designed to appeal to PRO, also allowed:
- Multi-tabling up to 24 tables.
- Holdem Manager (HM3), Poker Tracker (PT4), and Hand2Note (H2N).
Table selection is restricted on the WPN network. On April 14, 2021, it launched a new feature called “Player Protection.” As a result, players won’t see the opponent’s nicknames until the big blind is posted. It is still possible to choose your opponents, but the process has become much more laborious.
Softness of the field
A large part of the traffic in the ACR Poker consists of amateurs from the United States and fish from countries where online poker has an underground status like Australia, Turkey, and Israel. But you should not count on easy money. It is still almost impossible to find a soft table even at micro-stakes. In addition, many regulars from Eastern Europe grind for rakeback here.
ACRstormers
New players are actively attracted by interactive streams from the ACRstormers team, including Chris Moneymaker, Ryan DePaulo, Thomas Cannuli, and Jeff Boski.
- Ryan DePaulo. Boasts a 2020 WSOP gold bracelet. At the moment, the American's prize money in live tournaments is $ 225,000.
- Robert Kuhn. Winner of WSOP Circuit 2016 and WPT Major 2020. The account has $ 660,000 in live.
- Thomas Cannuli. 2017 WSOP gold bracelet. Over $ 1,740,000 in live tournament earnings.
- Jeff Boski. A regular participant in the events of the World Series of Poker. More than $ 800,000 in prize money in online games.
Software review
In 2019, American Cardroom completely redesigned the client, but it can still freeze even with constant patches. In terms of functionality, design, and usability, the software is more than competitive. There are menu areas in the upper portion, table, and tournament lobbies in the lower part, and filter and cashier tabs in the lower right corner.
The client works at a breakneck pace. A pleasant combination of red and black has been chosen for decoration.
Hand History and HUD
As mentioned previously, tracking software such as Holdem Manager, Hand2Note, and Pocker Tracker are all allowed at Americas Cardroom. In addition, you can also view hand histories which are saved automatically. However, please note that you need to enable hand history saving.
To do that, go to “Game Info” --- “View Hand History” --- “Settings” and make sure the “Save Hand History” box is checked.
Mobile app
A full-fledged mobile client for Android was launched in 2023; unfortunately, iOS players must wait a bit longer. All games can be played (cash games, MTTs, Jackpots, etc.).
Reliability and trustworthiness
- Launched – 2001.
- Identity Verification – yes.
- KYC Verification – yes.
- RNG check – iTechLabs.
Americas Cardroom is an established room on the market. It was launched in 2001 and was a part of the sizeable Ongame network at that time. In 2006, like the rest of the US-oriented operators, it was suspended due to the UIGEA (which later caused the "Black Friday" in 2011), which automatically made all online poker in America illegal. In 2011, ACR Poker was acquired by Doyles Room and returned to the industry.
Throughout its 15 years in the online gambling market, AmericasCardroom has rightfully earned a positive reputation in the poker community. The only more or less substantiated complaints about the room are bots, against which ACR is actively fighting.
Is Americas Cardroom legal?
Americas Cardroom is not a regulated online poker site in the United States. Because of that (as with most unregulated rooms), it isn’t legal in Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey. But, it is legal throughout all unregulated states, except Washington, where online gambling is strictly prohibited.
American Cardroom is fully legal in most parts of the world, where online gambling is not strictly prohibited. This is excellent news, as it allows players outside of the US to compete with American users, making the games more entertaining.
Deposit and withdrawals
Deposits and, especially, withdrawals of funds must be carefully evaluated when choosing a poker room. In this context, it is problematic to assess the ACR.
The room does not support Skrill, Neteller, and bank cards, which will be a downside. On the other hand, Americas Cardroom is compatible with 66 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ether, to less common altcoins, which is very beneficial for clients from the USA and Western Europe. EcoPayz is the only regular e-wallet allowed.
Processing of a withdrawal request takes up to 3 days, but it often takes 1 day to withdraw funds.
Payments | Deposit | Withdrawal |
---|---|---|
Visa | $25-$300 | – |
ecoPayz | $1-$100,000 | $10-$5,000 |
Bitcoin | $10-$25,000 | $50-$25,000 |
Players in the US can deposit and withdraw money using Visa, Bitcoin, and cash transfer services like WesternUnion and MoneyGram. Please note that fees for cash transfers can be as high as 10%, but ACR will cover them if the amount is larger than $300. However, Bitcoin would be the most convenient payment method due to relatively quick processing times (payouts within 1-2 days) and no fees.
Account verification and KYC
In order to verify your identity you will need to send the following documents:
- Your ID, your passport, or your driver's license
- A recent utility bill
In addition, if you deposited with a credit card, you will need to provide the following:
- Signed authorization form
- Copy of card(s) used for deposit
In order to find out the best way to send your documents, we recommend you contact ACR support by filling out an online form on their website or through live chat.
Pros and cons of playing at ACR
ACR focuses on professional players, despite the market trend where amateurs are more valuable than regulars. If you are a PRO or plan to become one, it will sooner or later be part of your portfolio.
Remarks of the room:
- 15 years of experience.
- High rakeback.
- Bonuses for regulars.
- Loyal attitude towards players.
- Cryptocurrency support.
- The quick and simple verification process.
- Allowed tracking software and HUD.
The dark side of the room:
- No mobile app for iOS
- Not convenient peak times for Europeans.
- Reg-infested tables.
