Bryn Kenney Wins Triton Poker Monte Carlo Main Event
Another career record for American pro Bryn Kenney. The 38-year-old took pole position in the Triton Poker Monte Carlo Main Event, and thanks to this $4,410,000, he became the first player in history to win more than $70,000,000.
New record for Bryn
The best birthday present is the one you give yourself. We recently saw the perfect example of this rule.
Bryn Kenney beat out 99 opponents in the Triton Poker Monte Carlo Main Event, cashing in at $4,410,000. Ten days earlier, the player had celebrated his 38th birthday. Since 2007, Bryn has only cashed in twice a larger prize.
Thanks to his win in Monte Carlo, Bryn Kenney became the first player in poker history to surpass $70,000,000 in earnings on the live tournament circuit.
Interestingly, the 4Poker founder's five biggest cashes are from the Triton Series:
- August 2019 — $20,563,324. Second place in the Triton Million for Charity, buy-in £1,050,000, London.
- August 2023 — $6,860,000. Winner at the $262,500 Luxon Invitational in London.
- November 2024 — $4,410,000. Winner of the current series Main Event in Monte Carlo.
- March 2019 — $3,062,513. Runner-up at the $250K Main Event in Jeju.
- May 2019 — $2,713,859. Winner of the Main Event in Montenegro
Final Table
Kenney entered the final table with the third stack. The American eliminated two players from Austria: Thomas Muhlocker in 8th place (AKs—KK) and Mario Mosbock in 6th place.
In heads-up play, Bryn faced Malaysia's Wai Leong Chan, who had come very close to winning the Main Event in 2018 when he lost to Mikita Badziakouski.
This time, the fate of first place was decided by a bad beat. Chan’s pocket kings lost to Kenney’s AJ who hit third of a kind on the river. The Malaysian lost his remaining three big blinds with A9 against pocket sixes. An emotional Kenney commented after winning:
“Never give up, that’s the secret, for sure. Everyone has their roller coaster, their wave that they’re on. You just got to hang on for the ride. Give it your best, don’t let things get you down and never stop fighting.”
