Nick Schulman Takes Down $100,000 Triton Jeju Main Event for $3.855 Million

8-time WSOP gold bracelet winner, renowned poker commentator, and Poker Hall of Fame member Nick Schulman has just added another accolade to his résumé. He topped the field in the $100,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event at the most recent stop of the Triton Super High Roller Series at the LES A Casino in Jeju, South Korea.

The Triton Jeju Main Event, held September 14th-16th, drew 196 entries. The 9-handed final table featured not only Schulman, but famed American high roller Isaac Haxton, and reigning WSOP Paradise Bahamas Super Main Event champion Bernhard Binder from Austria.

Schulman and Binder were the last two standing. 

In the final hand, Schulman’s Cowboys (♥K♠K) called two barrels of bluffs on the flop and turn by Binder, who was holding ♣K♦J for nothing but King high on the ♥A♦8♥2 ♣5 board. On the ♦10 river, Binder decided to check out of position. This prompted Schulman to put his opponent all in. The Austrian Paradise ME champ decided that King high was good enough for him to put his tournament life on the line, and called — thus Nick Schulman became the new Triton Main Event champion of Jeju!

The $3.885 million he secured himself with a heads-up deal is also Schulman’s largest live tournament cash to date.

“For me, I really do love to play. I'm not goal-oriented as far as wins. It's just when I can continue to feel like I can hold my head high — win or lose. That's a good feeling for me because I haven't always had it. I feel I have it now and I just want to keep that going as long as I enjoy it, which I think will be for a while. Hopefully, I'm finding that level,” the new Triton Main Event champion told PokerNews after his great win.

He was a little more nonchalant when speaking to the Triton media team while collecting his trophy, simply saying, “You know, I did my thing. It's tough to fully analyze it right away, but we got the job done. That's always good”.

Schulman Runs Hot at Triton Jeju

Prior to the Main Event, Schulman came in second in the $53,000 NLHE 7-handed Triton event for $810,279, only falling short to Matthew Wantman in the heads-up phase. Schulman was very close to taking down back-to-back Triton events: the $53K 7-handed tournament was Event #11 on the schedule, while the Main event was Event #12.

However, he is probably still very happy with his trip to South Korea, as his live tournament cashes have reached $31.475 million now, which puts him at the #38 spot on Hendon’s all-time money list. This was his second title from the Triton High Roller Series, with the first being from 2018 and also from Jeju.
