Swedish star left 888 Poker Team Pro
January 2021 can be rightfully called the period of the "big poker starfall." Chris Moneymaker, Anatoly Filatov, among others, announced that their contracts were not renewed by different poker rooms.
Today, similar news came from London:
Sweden's TOP1 live poker player and WSOP Main Event champion Martin Jacobson announced that his partnership with 888Poker has come to an end.
Both sites exchanged routine wishes for further success, but, as usual, no one mentioned the real reasons. Jacobson confirmed that the decision was 100% mutual and the show must go on.
What's next for Martin Jacobson?
The 33-year old player's last remark may well suggest that he is not clearly not going to retire. So far, we can only guess what the Swede plans to do next. In our opinion, he has two career options:
Poker coach
Martin hinted at his next step in early January 2021, when he announced, together with Farid Jatin (Colombian best live poker player), the start of a two-month training course.
Jacobson may follow the example of Doug Polk and Phil Galfond and open his own poker training site.
Poker room ambassador
Another possibility for Jacobson is to sign a new ambassadorship contract with another poker room. Martin is widely popular in his homeland, and both GGPoker and partypoker are not averse to getting licenses to operate on the Swedish poker market, and he would be a very desirable person in the teams of these sites.
Which path will Martin choose? We will most likely find out in the comming months.
