Maurice Hawkins has written his name into poker history. He won his 20th gold ring at the WSOP Circuit in New Orleans, becoming the all-time record holder for most titles. This achievement has solidified his status as one of the most successful players in Circuit history.
Maurice Hawkins set a new World Series of Poker Circuit record by becoming the first player to win the 20th gold ring.
The Florida poker player won the $600 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament held at Caesars New Orleans. Maurice beat 106 opponents and earned $14,548 in prize money.
It is noteworthy that in addition to Hawkins, two other players - Ari Engel and Daniel Lowry - have 19 rings each.
It is worth noting that Maurice’s first win in the series was in a non-Hold'em tournament. At the same time, Engel has at least one victory in almost all known formats, including online events. In addition, the Canadian has seven World Series bracelets and more than 700 cashes in live tournaments.
After the tournament in New Orleans, Maurice Hawkins told reporters:
“I don’t want to offend anyone who competes with me, but my name needs to be at the top. There’s nothing to say about it — this is my Circuit. I respect Ari, in fact, I’ve respected him his entire career. I even looked up to him a little bit before. And Dan is a great player, but I still need to be at the top.”
The next milestone for Hawkins or someone pursuing him will be winning 25 rings. At the current rate of winning, someone should reach this figure sometime in the second half of 2027.

The player became known not only as a WSOP Circuit grinder with the best cash of $280,100 received for 35th place in the WSOP Main Event.
However, Maurice's name is also accompanied by scandals. Non-payment of poker debts left a stain on his career. When the player won his 19th ring, Randy Garcia announced on Twitter that Hawkins still owed him a six-figure sum.
More than a year has passed since the last promise to pay off the debt, and more than six years have passed since its inception. Moreover, back in 2019, the Palm Beach County (Florida) court ordered the player to pay this debt.
In March 2025, Hawkins reached heads-up in the $1,000 WSOPC Baltimore Main Event thanks to a blunder by the dealer that was noticed after the tournament had ended.
In the top 3 of the event, Diviam Satyarti shoved preflop with Q♣T♥ against Maurice's A♥3♠. The flop was a ten with two clubs, the turn was a four of clubs, and the river was a five of clubs, which closed Diviam's flush on a queen. But the dealer confidently announced that he had won Hawkins' straight.
We will continue to follow the ring race and the twists and turns of Maurice Hawkins' career.
