Microgaming announced a new game: Hold 'em Poker
MPN said goodbye for more than five months, but it seems that Microgaming has not given up on poker projects and announced the launch of the first game of its new set: Hold 'em Poker.
Microgaming and poker
On May 19, 2020, the Microgaming Poker Network was closed, but its parent company, a major company that develops games for casinos, did not completely abandon poker.
Recently, a press release was published with the following information:
"We're excited to announce the upcoming release of Hold’em Poker, the first in a full suite of exclusive poker games to launch on the Microgaming platform, adding a new dimension of choice to our diverse casino offering."
What is Hold 'em Poker?
Microgaming CEO John Coleman spoke about this game:
"Hold'Em Poker will add a new dimension to our online casino vertical, introducing a range of fun and exciting poker games to our platform. Designed to appeal to both poker and casino players, these games will deliver even further choice to our customers as we continue to diversify and innovate our content offering."
Also, the same press release included several features of this product:
- Multiplayer;
- Dynamic SnG tournament with a €5 buy-in;
- Prize pool generator;
- A progressive jackpot starting from €25,000;
- Optimized for mobile devices;
- New avatars;
- Portrait table.
Poker players will easily recognize Fish Party (MPN spins) after reading the description.
Alex Scott, the former CEO of MPN, seems to have been involved in the development of the game, said Jonathon Kelly, Head of Games Strategy at Microgaming, who also stated:
"Really proud to announce the release of Hold’em Poker, this one is close to my heart and brings me back to my gaming roots. Graphically rich with smooth gameplay, this game is a credit to a very talented team who have worked extraordinarily hard on developing the first in a series of new poker games to come from Microgaming. Hold’Em Poker will launch on the Microgaming platform on 9 December!"
Online casino poker room or something else?
Suppose the full version of Fish Party is implemented in Hold 'em Poker. In that case, we can witness the beginning of a new cross-site between casinos and poker.
It draws our attention that the game has a multiplayer mode, something rare in casino games.
Microgaming is one of the largest casino game developers worldwide. The launch of Hold 'em Poker will at least introduce the game to a broader group of players, which can benefit the overall ecosystem.
