Skrill launches a Visa Prepaid Card for US customers
Although playing online poker in the US is still a challenge, it's undeniable that Americans love gambling and that the market potential is enormous. One of the main issues that US grinders find when they play online is to have friendly deposit and withdrawal methods, but yesterday Skrill announced a new option that will change the market for good.
Skrill USA launched a Visa Prepaid Card
Yesterday Lorenzo Pellegrino, CEO of Skrill, Neteller, and Income Access, shocked the market, announcing that all US customers will be able to request a Visa Prepaid Card.
From Pellegrino's press release:
"I’m delighted to announce that today is a great milestone for Skrill in the US We have launched our VISA Prepaid card – now available to all our US customers."
Why is this piece of news so important? The United States is the richest country in the world, and is perhaps the most attractive market for online poker companies because it combines a long gambling tradition with a wealthy population.
The problem is that, although online poker is not strictly illegal in the US (with the exception of some states), it isn't legal either, and only a few poker rooms take the chance to offer games to Americans.
Now, all Skrill USA customers can request the Visa Prepaid Card by sending an application directly via their accounts (both existing and new); after approval, the card will be issued within ten business days.
As the name suggests, the card will be loaded with the Skrill balance and can be used across all commercial establishments that accept cards, from supermarkets to internet purchases. No fees will be charged for using the card in-store or online.
Skrill won't charge additional fees for ATM withdrawals, although this will surely imply a cost charged by the bank.
The Skrill Visa Prepaid Card will be issued by the Community Federal Savings Bank (CFSB), a company headquartered in New York, and is accepted globally as Visa backs it.
