German Dominik" Texxassss" Nitsche won The Venom $12.5M from ACR Poker
On May 1, 2024, The Venom successfully ended, which guaranteed a record prize of $12,500,000 in the Winning Poker Network rooms. The first place went to the German professional Dominik Nietzsche.
Record on the Winning Poker Network
After five The Venom tournaments with a guaranteed $10M, four of which had overlays, the Winning Poker Network took a risky step and decided to increase the prize pool to $12.5M.
The first The Venom $12.5M GTD from ACR Poker, collected 5,045 entries, which exceeded the total guaranteed prize by $612,500. The title went to the German professional Dominik "Texxassss" Nitsche, who cashed the record figure of $1,818,044.
For the first time, the tournament was played without overlay due to an intense satellite campaign and a strong Internet promotional campaign.
Bots blocked on Day 2
The controversy accompanied this Venom, as several players with large stacks were blocked by the security department, after being accused of being bots by the "MTT Data Review" Twitter account. The list of blocked accounts, according to this user, was:
- Withia - 23 stacks
- Verucasalt5 - 10 stacks
- MReGoR - 32 stacks
- acquiton - 27 stacks
After the end of Day 2, the Withia account occupied the 162nd position, collecting $11,339, which will be redistributed according to the rules of the room.
Final table
Four U.S. players made it to the 9-player final table. However, one name stood out: Chris Moneymaker, ACR Poker ambassador and winner of the 2003 WSOP Main Event. Ian Matakis, the best player of the WSOP 2023, also reached the finals.
The first eliminated was "RiverRiot72", followed by "IanBeale" and "DinaTheDog." Nitsche accumulated a lot of chips when he reached the TOP 6, although he started the final day as 4th in chips. The players left the final table in the following order:
- Moneymaker, Chris lost with TT against KQ
- "Doblou" decided to bluff with a high K on the river, but his rival paid with a pair
- "AK_Dont_Play" played his chips with A2 but found himself with a QQ
- Santiago "Anzuelitico" Varela from Uruguay went all-in preflop with 53 against "Push0rdie", winning the second with AJ
Heads-Up
After four hours of the final table, the heads-up started with a 2:1 advantage of Push0rdie over Dominik, a situation that changed when "Texxassss" got a queen on the river to improve his QQ against a connected king on his opponent's flop.
The final hand clashed Nietzsche's K6 in a 3-bet pot against Push0rdie's AK. The board brought 26K5J, sentencing the fate of the tournament in favor of the German.
Final table payouts:
- Dominik "Texxassss" Nitsche (UK) – $1,818,044
- "Push0rdie" (Peru) – $1,345,186
- Santiago "Anzuelitico" Varela (Uruguay) – $1,013,515
