Third COPS: what's new?
Chico Poker Network players didn't have any tournament series for more than 6 months. After The King of the Ring in February, there were only regular scheduled tournaments. Autumn usually brings more active players to the tables, so Chico has announced a new tournament festival:
From 6-27 September 2021, Chico Poker Network will host the Championship Online Poker Series (COPS) with $2,500,000 guaranteed across 222 tournaments
The full COPS schedule is available here. You may notice that:
- There are 3 tournament groups separated by buy-ins: Low ($5.5-$11), Medium ($18-$55), and High ($75-$215), numbered from #1 to #87. Only 3 of them with $320 buy-ins are marked as «HR»;
- The vast majority of the events have buy-ins ranging $11-$55 and up to $20,000 in guaranteed prize money;
- There are only 26 Omaha events ($5.5-$75 buy-ins, $1,000-$7,500 GTD). Also, nine PLO8 tournaments are available;
Compared to a similar festival from last year, the total guarantee remained the same, but now there are 30% more events, and the minimum buy-in was increased to $5.5.
It seems like serious work has been done to avoid overlays this time. Still, there's some possibility of having them in Main Events, especially in High Roller Deepstack, which kept the same GTD for a lower price (buy-in has been decreased from $550 to $320). The same goes for COPS #86-H: $75,000 Gtd $215 PKO Sunday Special.
How to locate the series events?
Chico Network rooms use an advanced version of the Connective Games poker client and offer a handy tournament lobby. All Championship Online Poker Series events are marked green. When you click on any of them, you can see all tournament details on the right side.
- If you need to filter only COPS events or find the particular tourney, please use a search field below the main menu (try to enter «COPS» there).
- To find satellites for any event, open its lobby and press the «Satellite Structure» button.
Main Events
They are running every Sunday and have the following buy-ins: $5.5 (Low), $22 (Medium), $109 (High). Guaranteed prize pools for the first 2 levels are 8K$-10K$ and $30K.
Top Sunday events offer $200,000 and $300,000 GTD (just a reminder: the same Main Event in the regular schedule has only $150K GTD). Of course, COPS #83-H: $300,000 Gtd $109 Championship Event would probably attract the most interest. There are 2 ways to qualify for it via satellites:
- SnG: 18-max ($1.5 buy-in) - 2 x $12.5 tickets guaranteed, 9-max ($12.5 buy-in) - 1 x ME ticket GTD;
- МТТ: hourly ($1.5 buy-in) - 3 x $12.5 tickets for the winners, daily at 18:00 BST ($12.5 buy-in) - 3 x ME tickets GTD. Minimum 5 players are required for the satellites to start.
COPS #83-H needs at least 3,000 entries to avoid an overlay. The other events may also become a perfect fit for any low or medium MTT player who has nothing against late-night tourneys. A soft field with a moderate amount of players would come as a nice bonus (HUDs are allowed).
