The poker world is getting its own social network. Created by successful venture capitalist Josh Luber and backed by such famous players as Phil Hellmuth, Michael Mizrachi, and Doug Polk, the newly launched Alligator Blood aims to build a user base of poker players and businesses that upload all the relevant information about their poker careers to a searchable database on the site.

Alligator Blood Facebook of Poker

Phil Hellmuth, Michael Mizrachi, Alan Keating, and Doug Polk — some of the biggest names in poker today are behind the exciting new project Alligator Blood. It is a new social network labelled as “Facebook for Poker” in the company’s first official press release.

“Poker is bigger than ever. And yet the community remains fragmented: scattered across X, Instagram, YouTube, Discord, and a dozen forums, with no common home to hold it together. Enter Alligator Blood. Alligator Blood is a social network and directory built specifically for poker. Players, creators, cardrooms, podcasts, tools, operators, businesses — Alligator Blood is the single place where every part of the poker world can be found, claimed, and connected,” the public statement about the project writes.

We actually covered poker pro Jeff Gross’s appearance on The Table One Podcast on the site last week, where he brought along his business partner Josh Luber. Luber is a successful venture capitalist and the main person behind the poker social platform project.

He was quite reluctant to talk about the details of the venture then. However, he did reveal the name, Alligator Blood. It is a reference to the 1998 cult classic poker movie Rounders. Iin it, the main villain Teddy KGB describes the hero Mike McDermott as someone with ‘alligator blood’ whom he just can’t get a read on. In the podcast, the hosts and guests shared their surprise about how many poker players of today do not get that reference.

What Can You Do on Alligator Blood?

As of now, you can only join the waitlist through email as the site does not have any functioning features yet. Users who join the waitlist are eligible to take part in a PLO flip tournament with $100,000 in prizes.

However, the press release claims that “At launch, anyone in the game can claim a profile in one searchable directory, finally putting the entire poker world in a single place”. They have yet to share an official launch date.

The site developers aim to attract users — be they professionals, rec players, or businesses such as cardrooms — who upload all the information about their poker careers, such as live tournament cashes, live-streamed cash game performance, vlog channels, and more. Thus, other users would no longer have to jump around on different platforms, such as Hendon Mob, Highrollpoker.com, or the more traditional platforms LinkedIn and YouTube, to find all that info on a player.

“Poker is already the one game with no barrier between the amateur and the legend. Alligator Blood gives the industry around it that same openness. Every player will have a profile; every fan will have a way in,” founder Josh Luber has stated about his new project Alligator Blood.
