Third Main Event of his career

After a successful stop at Triton Poker Montenegro (three ITMS, 1st and 3rd place, more than $1.2M in prizes) and a regular visit to the WSOP, Chris Moneymaker traveled to Uruguay.
This series is played several times a year through an alliance with ACR Poker. Chris is an ambassador for this site.

Chris Moneymaker won the Main Event of the Enjoy Poker Tour, winning $179,770.

The tournament collected 657 entries of $1,650, 150 more than the same tournament played in February of this year.

This is the third Main Event the American has won. In addition to the highly recognized WSOP 2003 Main Event, Moneymaker won the Check Raise Poker Championships in Brisbane (Australia).

After his victory in Punta del Este, Chris posted a video in a restaurant celebrating winning all the chips.

As expected, the TOP 9 was almost entirely composed of Latin American players. Besides Chris, two other players represented online poker rooms: Oscar Alache with WPT Global and Francisco Benítez with 4Poker.

Moneymaker started the game with 3 stacks (48BB), but when he reached the TOP6, he was left with only 5 big blinds, so he was forced to go all-in against the chip leader, Gaspar Fernández. In the hand T8s against 74, Chris got a straight.

After this hand, Chris was unstoppable, knocking out:

  • Julio Belluscio in the 6th position: AQ vs A4
  • Gaspar Fernández in the 5th place with AJ vs A2
  • Jose Gonzalo in third place: 33 vs KQ

In the heads-up, Moneymaker faced one of the poker legends in Uruguay, Francisco Benítez; the confrontation lasted about half an hour.

In the decisive hand, both players connected a pair on the flop, but Moneymaker had a better kicker. On the turn, Chris got a second pair, and Benitez decided to pay the re-raise on the turn.
