#Good4Poker: a new poker movement by Phil Nagy
Phil Nagy has been quite active on his Twitter account this year. Besides facing the problems of the ACR server, he is calling to arms the poker community to do things good for poker. However, only a few people know about his initiative, so we decided to give a push to the idea.
#Good4Poker: what is good for online poker?
We have been in touch with Phil Nagy a few times; he gave us an interview and shared his thoughts about the current status of the industry and the problem with bots. He also commented on the impressive results of The Venom.
In February 2020, Nagy launched a massive campaign on his social networks: streams on Twitch, and dozens of messages on Twitter.
It was there that he posted a message in which he invited representatives of four rooms (PokerStars, GGPoker, partypoker, and Run It Once Poker) to hold a poker summit:
"In today's industry most poker players play multiple sites. It would be #Good4Poker to come together for a live event in a neutral location with equal commitments and sponsorships. What do you think about a poker summit."
His proposal raised questions about the details of the meeting, and we identify two streams according to the Nagy's answers:
- Development of new ways to attract players to the industry, with a focus on streaming;
- Fight unfair play.
However, almost a week after his tweet, only partypoker tagged Rob Yong, who didn't respond in public to the subject.
Most likely, PokerStars will ignore this initiative, and without their participation, the poker summit may become a reunion to figure out how to tackle down Stars.
In addition to that, Nagy proposed to include a non-branded patch with the #Good4Poker tag with the WPN's merchandise. Slightly over 50% of the voters said yes. The problem is that only 429 people voted, mainly because the Twitter account @WPN_CEO has only 2,654 followers.
Of course, Phil Nagy's initiative is excellent, and its implementation can bring many perks to online poker, and we only hope it doesn't suffer the same fate of the Rob Yong's Fairplay project, whose site has been closed for more than six months. For this, the support of players and affiliates is crucial.
