After winning two Short Deck events and $52K PLO event at the Triton Series, Canadian poker pro Daniel Dvoress also took down the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em Golden Decade Event at the Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro, thus completing the “Triton Trident”.
Daniel Dvoress won the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em Golden Decade Event at the Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro for $849,000 on May 15th.
The Canadian poker pro’s latest win not only brings his lifetime tournament earnings to a whopping $51.3 million, but also gives him the distinction of having completed the so-called “Triton Triden”. The Triton Trident means that a player has won a Triton high roller event in No Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, and Short Deck Hold’em as well. Well, the 37-year-old Dvoress has achieved just that.
He has won four Triton events in total. In May 2023, he took down the $20,000 No Limit Short Deck Hold'em - Ante Only event at Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Cyprus for $214,000. In November 2023, he finished first in the $52,000 Pot Limit Omaha event at the Monaco stop of the Triton series, which got him a $956,000 payday. Then, in March of this year, he doubled his Triton titles in Short Deck events in Jeju, South Korea at a $100K event for $1.38 million, before completing the trident in May with an NLHE Triton trophy.
For his latest victory in Montenegro, Dvoress bested a field of 146 entries, and defeated the Montenegrin Dejan Kaladjurdjevic heads-up for the title on his “home turf”.
Dvoress can now join American poker pro Jason Koon and fellow Canadian Mike Watson among players who have completed the Triton Trident. This is his 65th ITM finish in Triton events, four of which are victories
Dvoress said after his victory, according to Triton Poker:
“I'm very proud. It's great, obviously. It is kind of funny that it took me forever to get my first Triton trophy to begin with, and then they came in Short Deck, then PLO and then Short Deck. I've generally been a No Limit specialist. I've not been playing the other two games for very long. So it feels nice to finally get this one.”
The latest stop of the Triton Super Higher Roller Series runs from May 13th to May 28th at the Maestral Resort in Sveti Stefan Budva, Montenegro.
The $200K No Limit Hold’em invitational tournament is the most anticipated event on the menu, which kicks off on May 19th. The $100K buy-in Main Event starts two days later, on May 21st. A $150K 10th anniversary special, celebrating the first decade of the Triton High Roller Series’ history, is also on the schedule, starting on May 23rd.
For those who enjoy the other two games of the Triton Trident, the $100K PLO Main Event kicks off on May 25th; while there is, alas, no Short Deck event on the schedule.
