Did the Canadian Playground Casino leave partypoker for GGNetwork?

The beginning of a collaboration between the largest casino in Canada, Playground Poker Club, and the GGNetwork network was announced in the first days of August 2021. This article will look at what it should offer to both sides and how it will change Canadians' relationships with their older partners partypoker.

Why now?

Playground Poker Club was one of the hundreds of casinos forced to close due to the pandemic at the beginning of last year. The Canadians then made an unusual step by setting tables for their clients on the Internet using partypoker.

But, after a 515-day hiatus, the live game resumed at the casino. It is offered with some restrictions, such as mandatory face-masks and disinfection of everything and everyone. As a result, it was reasonable to believe that the casino's owners opted to play it safe in this situation:

From August 2021, Playground Poker Club begins cooperation with the GGNetwork and invites players who cannot or do not want to take part in live sessions with covid restrictions to the Internet.

Furthermore, like with partypoker, this cooperation was approached uniquely. The casino owners have become an affiliate for Canadian poker fans and promotion banners in the gaming hall and on the website. A new page has emerged on the PPC site with a description of GGPoker, a special bonus code for registration, and an exclusive deposit bonus.

Did partypoker lose?

Everyone will profit from the current course of events:

  1. Offline players from Canada will benefit from new options for safe games, including large stakes and a decent range of tables.
  2. Playground will benefit due to an extra source of revenue and will retain more loyal clients.
  3. The poker network's players will benefit because fresh opponents from a high-income nation can be barely called strong regulars.

The question with the casino’s previous long-term (since 2013) partner, partypoker, remains unanswered. Just over a month ago, they promoted live events in this casino on their network, and both companies had many collaborative live episodes, so this is such an unexpected move. The Canadians also removed the private tables from Rob Yong's room.

Regardless, competition amongst poker sites is beneficial in all forms and expressions. We expect a similar collaboration between a major poker network and live game organizers to commence soon on other markets.
