The German legal poker market is developing as expected. The local authorities have begun the process of issuing gaming licenses. GGNetwork was one of the first poker sites to receive it.
The global changes in the German gambling market, which began in the spring of 2020, should sooner or later lead to the emergence of legal gaming companies, considering the appealing local economic conditions.
On December 1, 2022, NSUS Malta Ltd announced that the State Administration Office of Saxony-Anhalt granted them a license to operate throughout the country under the "GGPoker" brand.
The license is valid for 5 years. Let's recall that in 2021 GGNetwork launched a ".de" domain and began to fulfill all the requirements. The permit is only the confirmation of this.
Entain was the first company to receive a German license. Their rooms have not previously worked with local players, and now they can count on more traffic.
However, GGNetwork accepted German players without any interruptions; hence the license won't affect them in any way.
As we wrote above, GGPoker has been fulfilling all legal requirements for a long time. Since March 2022, the room has been paying a 5.5% tax for cash players, and tournaments have a reduced rate of 3% (the tax is paid from the generated rake). All other restrictions (like multitabling and the amount that can be deposited) remain.
The main advantage of starting the process of licensing poker rooms in Germany is that the operators can promote their services country-wide.
