GGPoker continues its expansion into regulated European markets. Following its entry into Denmark, the company launched a local version of its platform in Sweden – GGPoker.se. The new site operates under a license from the Swedish regulator Spelinspektionen.
GGPoker has launched a dedicated platform for Swedish players, GGPoker.se, operating under a local gaming license.
Sweden remains one of Europe's most tightly regulated online poker markets. Following the launch of its new domain, GGPoker has further strengthened its position among the best poker sites in Sweden, where only a handful of major operators, including PokerStars, partypoker, and several iPoker skins, operate under a local license.
Importantly, players on GGPoker.se still share access to the network's global player pool and the full range of core network games. New users can claim a welcome bonus of up to SEK 5,555. The only promotion openly advertised on the website is the jackpot system, although the client itself includes a broader selection of promotions, and Swedish players remain eligible for various leaderboards.
This apparent discrepancy stems from local regulatory requirements. Swedish gambling laws impose strict limitations on marketing and promotional activities: the public version of the site must remain as limited as possible from a marketing perspective.
GGPoker Global Managing Director Sarne Laitman commented on the launch as part of its expansion strategy in Northern Europe:
"We are excited to continue our expansion in the region. Following our successful partnership with Danske Spil in Denmark, Sweden marks another important milestone in our growth strategy. Our mission remains unchanged: to connect players from all over the world on the GGPoker platform and provide the highest quality poker experience for the community."
In addition to the different approach to displaying promotions, the site's rules also contain several other unique requirements. GGPoker.se operates as a separate local version of the platform in Sweden and uses its own registration and verification system. This means players must create a new account; it's not linked to the global GGPoker account.
The platform operates under a license from Spelinspektionen through NSUS Malta Ltd and is fully compliant with Swedish regulations, including the Spelpaus self-exclusion system and responsible gaming policies.
Another important difference concerns financial limits. Basic deposit limits depend on age: for players aged 18–24, this limit is up to SEK 5,000 per month, and for players aged 25+, it's up to SEK 10,000 per month. Increasing these limits is only possible after verification of income documents, and the decision is always made on a case-by-case basis.
Limit changes are also subject to strict regulations: Any increase becomes effective only after a waiting period of up to 72 hours, whereas reductions take effect immediately. The limits are measured according to fixed calendar periods: daily, weekly, and monthly.
Despite these restrictions, GGPoker has once again succeeded in meeting local regulatory standards while preserving access to the network's global player pool and its most popular game formats.
