Mark Rubbathan turned 40 hours of poker into $700,000
In the second month of the year, Winning Poker had a promotion in which they sent paid expenses to several lucky players to play the world's most famous high roller series: Triton Series. One of the streamers made history by winning the Mystery Bounty event and collecting more than $700,000.
40 hours of gaming for $700,000
Mark Rubbathan of the ACR Stormers team was the lucky streamer to win the $100,000 package Americas Cardroom (Winning Poker network's flagship room) put up for grabs in the High Stakes Adventure promotion. This package included flights, accommodation, VIP treatment in Vietnam, and $100k in buy-ins for the tournaments selected by the player.
In the results, we notice that Rubbathan, who plays with the nickname ”Weazel_1991" in ACR, clashed with TravisTOJ, but what catches our attention is that they played tournaments from $0.55 to $55.
Before his successful participation in the Triton Series, Mark's best payout was $14k at a Grosvenor UK Poker Tour event in 2019, and his first places corresponded only to small low buy-in events. In total, Rubbathan participated in three Triton Series tournaments, cashing in two:
- $20,000 Mystery Bounty, 1st position, $396,000 + $240,000 (bounty)
- $15,000 No Limit Hold'em, 10th position, $50,300
“I'm still processing what happened, the only thing I can say is that everything, just the fact of being in Triton, and how well everything went here, it's hard not to want to be here again. Thank you very much to everyone who has supported me, it represents a lot.”
The story does not end there because, in the Mystery Bounty tournament, Mark beat the famous Wiktor “Limitless” Malinowski and faced players like Daniel Dvoress (Canada), Joao Vieira, and Timothy Adams, among others.
As a curious fact, Mark said that if he triumphed in the series, he would get a tattoo of Phil Nagy, CEO of WPN, who replied that he would not allow him to do it because his only objective with this promotion was to change people's lives, which he considers a mission accomplished.
