The Maltese regulator continues to promote sustainable and responsible business standards in iGaming. NSUS, the owner of the GGPoker and World Series of Poker brands, has once again received the ESG Code Approval Seal from the Malta Gaming Authority. This confirms the operator’s compliance with key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements.
The certification was announced on the official NSUS Group LinkedIn page. The post states:
NSUS Malta has received the ESG Code Seal of Approval from the Malta Gaming Authority for the second consecutive year.
NSUS is one of only 17 operators to receive this certification following the latest MGA assessment cycle. The company highlighted the contribution of its Maltese team and its consistent focus on sustainable and ethical business practices.
The recognition is particularly important given that NSUS owns both GGPoker and the WSOP, making it highly relevant to the broader poker industry. In effect, this serves as an ESG assessment of the largest player in the global online poker market. Of the 17 certified companies, only NSUS and Playtech are directly linked to the poker industry.
The ESG Code is a voluntary initiative launched by the Malta Gaming Authority to raise sustainability standards across the gambling industry. ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance.
As part of the program, licensed companies must submit detailed reports outlining:
Receiving the ESG Code Approval Seal means an operator must not only commit to responsible principles but also substantiate them with documentation. The MGA evaluates a company’s policies, internal processes, and real-world implementation.
The ESG framework consists of two tiers:
Even Tier 1 is considered a meaningful achievement, as it requires systematic and consistent work.
For the iGaming industry, the code is important because it sets a clear benchmark for future regulation. Regulators, partners, and investors are increasingly evaluating not only financial performance but also a company's impact on society and the environment in which it operates.
NSUS is an international gaming group that owns brands such as GGPoker and World Series of Poker. The company operates primarily in regulated jurisdictions and holds licenses in several European countries, including Malta, one of the key regulatory centers for the iGaming industry.
Receiving the ESG Code Approval Seal for a second consecutive year shows that NSUS is pursuing a long-term strategy rather than relying on one-off initiatives. Participation in the ESG Code allows the company to demonstrate transparency, accountability to players, and a commitment to meeting future regulatory requirements.
Amid growing attention to responsible gaming, data protection, and corporate ethics, this approach is becoming a competitive advantage. It builds trust with partners, users, and regulators.
As a result, the MGA’s ESG Seal represents more than just a symbolic or marketing distinction. For NSUS, it confirms its status as a mature and responsible participant in the global online poker and gambling market.
