Daniel Negreanu needs no introduction — the charismatic player has won over $40M and has been active for over 20 years. For long 12 years, his name has always been firmly associated with PokerStars, but in the past few weeks, everything changed, and Negreanu announced a partnership with another poker room.

Why did Daniel Negreanu choose GGPoker?

The Canadian poker player made the announcement this week by posting a video on his YouTube channel and later shared it on his Twitter account, where Negreanu has almost 500,000 followers.

In a short video (less than one minute), Daniel describes all the advantages of GGPoker (major tournament series, software, etc.) and at the end of the video hangs the GGPoker logo on his chest:

GGPoker is offering its ambassadors (like Bryn Kenney) something they can't refuse. And of course, the massive success of the network this year encourages famous players to sign with them, even in an industry that many think is in a deep crisis:

  • Traffic boost;
  • Launch of new formats and tournaments;
  • Major tournament series, the last of which was Good Game Series 3 with $50M GTD;
  • Monthly promotions with hundreds of thousands of dollars added;
  • Adding new European poker rooms in closed markets;

Daniel's movement has caused a mixed reaction from his fans, which is undoubtedly not surprising: for many of them, there is still no online poker outside PokerStars.

GGPoker is already working with the image of Daniel — on its website, an avatar was loaded with his image to promote a special event — the $100,000 GTD Daniel Negreanu Challenge and the loading picture of the skin now includes Daniel.

Given the fact that Daniel is a tournament player, GGPoker already announced an MTT series with five tournaments. Four of these are qualifying events: the $100,000 GTD Daniel Negreanu Challenge Qualifier. Each one will have different buy-ins:

  • November 30 - freeroll;
  • December 7 - buy-in $ 5;
  • December 14 - buy-in $ 25;
  • December 21 - buy-in $ 100.

From each qualifier, two players will enter the $100,000 GTD Daniel Negreanu Challenge Final, which kicks-off on December 22. The ninth participant of this event will be Daniel Negreanu himself.

Interestingly, the $100,000 GTD Daniel Negreanu Challenge was also added to PokerOK's Exclusive Tournaments, and the player's avatar is also being displayed in the client login window. The explanation is quite simple: both GGPoker and PokerOK belong to the same network (GG Poker Network), so Daniel became an ambassador of PokerOK without knowing it. So far, we have not noticed such changes in other clients.
