Martin Hummel decided to celebrate his 44th birthday unusually: instead of a typical celebration, he spent 76 hours playing on GGPoker. The Dutch streamer surpassed the previous world record by 27 hours. This marks Martin’s second achievement of this kind.
Online poker is often associated with grinding, so it is hardly surprising that many records in this field are related to sheer volume.
For example, in 2009, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier played 62 Sit & Go tournaments in a single hour, while three years later, Randy Lew played 14,548 cash-game hands over eight hours and finished the marathon in profit. There is also, of course, a record for the longest poker session. In 2023, Sergio García set the mark by playing online poker for 49 consecutive hours.
The Spanish player surpassed the previous record held by Martin Hummel by one hour. Three years later, the Dutchman decided to reclaim the record and timed his new attempt to coincide with his 44th birthday. Martin initially planned to play for 72 hours, finishing his marathon at exactly 10:00 a.m. on August 17, when he turned 44.
However, after reaching his target, the streamer decided not to stop and continued playing for another four hours. As a result, his GGPoker marathon lasted 76 hours, beating García’s record by 27 hours.

All three parts of the stream are still available on the ppmh00 Twitch channel. The recordings include not only the gameplay itself but also the preparation for the marathon, so their combined length differs from the 76-hour record-breaking session.
During the stream, Hummel played MTTs, Rush & Cash, and Mystery Battle Royale on GGPoker. To meet the Guinness World Records requirements, witnesses continuously monitored the gameplay. They took turns every four hours to ensure the record attempt was documented without interruption.
Over the course of the marathon, Martin played 65 MTTs and reached the money in 16 of them. He won one tournament after making a deal in the top three. In total, the Dutchman spent around €900 on buy-ins and collected approximately €1,000 in prize money.
During the stream, the player also raised €600 in donations for an animal shelter.
Interestingly, poker is not the only record Hummel has pursued. In 2023, Martin spent 71 hours and 25 minutes working as a roulette dealer without a break. That marathon was also timed to coincide with his birthday: Hummel turned 41 toward the end of his record-breaking shift.
