Ahoy! Worldpokerdeals sailed in the WPT Voyage 2024
WPT Voyage 2024 is already considered one of the best poker experiences in history. Our team was on board the Virgin Valiant Lady, and we share with you all the details.
On board WPT Voyage 2024
The World Poker Tour, in alliance with its online poker room WPT Global, decided to raise the bar to create the perfect poker vacation: they chartered an entire luxury cruise ship for seven days, creating a kind of Las Vegas on the high seas.
The WPT Voyage 2024 set sail from the Miami cruise port on March 30, 2024, with the cruise line Virgin Voyages and its ship Valiant Lady becoming a floating poker city until April 6.
Virgin Voyages, a cruise line specializing in luxury vacations for adults, was the ideal partner to carry out WPT's dream, which is why we consider it a great success to have chosen them. On boarding day, the World Poker Tour team, composed of Adam Pliska (WPT CEO), Lynn Gilmartin, Vince Van Patten, Matt Savage, and Tony Dunst, inaugurated the WPT Voyage with an opening toast on the ship deck.
The Valiant Lady, as the home of the WPT Voyage, had everything a poker fan could dream of:
- Haute cuisine available 24 hours a day
- Gym, including yoga, meditation, and punching bags
- Events for all tastes, from poker games in pajamas, golf tournaments, live music, painting, arcade games, etc.
- Non-alcoholic drinks included, and alcoholic drinks at very reasonable prices
- Poker tables on different floors, including large rooms to showcase tournaments, including the Mike Sexton Cup
The perfect ending was the party at the Bimini Beach Club in The Bahamas, where the WPT and Virgin team had DJs, floats in the shape of cards and poker chips, as well as food and drinks for all attendees.
Poker on the high seas
Juan participated in two tournaments, in which, unfortunately, we were not able to cash:
- WPT Voyage Championship, $1,000,000 GTD, $5,000 buy-in
- WPT Voyage Prime, $500,000 GTD, $1,100 buy-in
In both events, we shared a table with great players, including Daniel Sepiol, to whom we gave up all our chips in a preflop all-in and against whom we had already played in December at the WPT World Championship in Las Vegas. We also played against Chad Holloway (PokerNews), Conrad Simpson, and Princess Love.
Some things to improve:
- Improve the registration and payment system to avoid lines.
- Expand the playing space by including more tables.
- Increase the offer of free tables; we heard of high rollers who could not play because tables larger than $5/$10 were not open.
Overall, we rate the experience as outstanding, and we can't wait for the next edition of WPT Voyage!
