Patrik Antonius wins $5M at Triton Poker
Finland's top player, Patrick Antonius, made the biggest cash of his career at the Triton Poker Series. The high roller took first place at the $200k Invitational, taking home $5,130,000.
Antonius' best cash
The Triton Poker Series in Monte Carlo saw a tournament with an unusual structure. It was a $200,000 invitational tournament in which professional and amateur players played at different tables from day one. This time, the winner was a professional player.
Patrik Antonius took first place at the Special Triton Invitational, cashing $5,130,000.
The tournament attracted 80 entrants in total who made 102 entries. Curiously, the Finn took third place at this same tournament last year in the series played in Cyprus.
This win became the biggest of Antonius’ career and propelled him up the All-Time Money List, where he now sits at number 28 with a cash of almost $30M.

Patrik currently lives in Monte Carlo and commented that it felt great to get his best cash at home:
“Obviously it feels really special at home, a bit surreal. I just came to play. I’m aware that it’s never easy. You never win straight away all the hands. I’m kind of happy with the way I focused. I’m planning on a long time playing…Without the passion, I wouldn’t be playing so much.”
Final table
Patrik Antonius started the final table as the chip leader with a massive stack of 121 BB. Interestingly, the Finn had problems with the mysterious new player Vladimir Korzinin, who resembled the wizard Dumbledore.
The Estonian bluffed aggressively and joked in a very original way. For example, when Patrick folded his cards heads-up, Vladimir showed his 69 with a smile:
— It's great that you folded. I was ready to push!
— Do you like this hand?
— 69 is the age shown on my passport. But I like this number for other reasons, too.

On his way to heads-up, Antonius eliminated:
- Morten Klein — J2s vs A6
- Tan Xuan — AQ vs JJ
- Konstantin Maslak — JJ-AK
- Roman Hrabec — JT vs J7
Antonius started the final battle against Korzinin with a smaller stack. In the last hand, both players only had the third pair on the board, but Vladimir went all-in, and Patrik called, winning thanks to a better kicker.
