Mikita Badziakouski won the WPT Big One for One Drop 2023
Early in the morning of December 21, 2023, the winner of the fifth edition of the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop was declared: Mikita Badziakouski, who received $7,114,500 for first place. The details of the tournament are in our article.
Badziakouski best cash
Mikita Badziakouski took first place in the WPT Big One for One Drop 2023, a massive tournament with a $1,000,000 buy-in, and earned $7,114,500.
The tournament was the smallest in the brand's history, gathering only 17 players. The last time this expensive event was held was back in 2018.
In 2023, One Drop began cooperation with the World Poker Tour and decided to revive the tournament as part of the WPT World Championship, a festival organized in partnership with their online poker room, WPT Global. Phil Ivey was the first player to officially bring a million dollars to the Wynn Casino cashier.
In Badziakouski's career, winning the Big One for One Drop is his most significant achievement and allowed him to reach seventh place in the world with a total winnings of $50,857,616.
Final table
The final table of the tournament was formed after two days of play, but not all of its participants secured entry into the prizes.
Santhosh Suvarna was the first to leave the game. A businessman from India just this year “broke into” the tables of expensive tournaments worldwide and won more than $6M in them.
His pocket threes could not resist the AK of Austrian Mario Mosböck, who caught an ace with a river.
Nick Petrangelo got the unenviable status of “bubble boy.” First, Badziakouski doubled from him, and then Isaac Hexton took Nick's last chips, which did not save him from relegation to 4th place at the hands of Mikita with AQ vs. 88.
The tournament moved into the heads-up stage after Dan Smith (the last US representative at the table), who started the day as a chip leader, played his remaining 7BB with A4. Mosböck, who called his bet with K7s, got two pairs.
Heads-up
Mario Mosböck started the heads-up game with a 30BB advantage. He is a Fedor Holz student and former Austrian soccer player who achieved great success for the first time only this year as part of the Triton Super High Roller series in Monte Carlo.
This time, luck was on Mikita's side. The Belarusian won two big pots, collecting stronger combinations on the turn and the river:
- With 86 against A5 on an A975K board.
- T8 vs. 95 on a KK59T board.
The 70th hand of the day was the final one, in which Mikita's A9 won the pre-flop all-in against KJ.
